A highly mercerized, twisted, non-divisable lustrous 100% cotton thread on a ball for crochet, knitting, embroidery, needlepoint, pulled thread, hardanger,counted thread, cross-stitch, openwork, huck weaving, smocking, tating, blackwork, punch embroidery, applique and quilting.  88 yards-80meters per ball. During the manufacturing process, the thread is combed, singed by flame and the double mercerised. It is this double mercerising which gives it its beautiful pearlised sheen. The thread is soft, silky, does not fluff or kink. Twists of 2 inseparable stands.

DMC Pearl Cotton Art 116 (#8) is the ideal thread for embroidery requiring a rich effect and raised pattern.

Ideal for a variety of different embroidery work eg tablecloths and napkins, smocking as well as edging work on bulkier embroidery (eg involving knot stitch, Palestrina stitch etc)
